Fan artwork of Mega Man rendered in ink, markers, colored pencils, and watercolor.

Story behind the artwork

Created as a tribute to the Mega Man games, the piece uses layered markers and ink on A4 paper. For this I started with marker colors, not ink, and added ink only at the very end. This is a reversed way of doing it, but turned out very well with the ink being extra crisp. The ink outline of Megaman himself is thinker than all the other lines. Also did a pass of color pencils on all the characters. The background is entirely done with colored pencils, and some splashes of watercolor for drop effects (I covered all the characters at this time, so the splashes are only on the background).

From start to finish, this piece took many months to complete as I was pushing perhaps too many things at once when it came to my capabilities at that time.

The selection of bosses for the background are from my favourite Megamans: 1, 2 and 3. Why I used MegamanX not original Megaman? Basically felt he looked cooler, and I had a very good reference of him in the pose I imagined. I also used various official artwork for posing all the robot masters and getting their Manga-esque style.
